Co-Op Student - Software Engineer

Semandex has developed a semantic wiki platform called Tango that allows computers and people to collaboratively analyze and manage complex, dynamic situations.  We are looking for high-caliber software engineering students interested in building great software to help us in our next chapter of growth. This position focuses on customizing Tango to meet the needs of specific government markets.  You will spend some portion of your time working directly with customers to identify their critical challenges and opportunities, and collaborate with other members of the engineering team to transform their vision into reality.

What We Want:
Above all else a love and passion for building great software, coupled with demonstrably superior engineering skills.  We would prefer Graduate students but undergraduates with solid software development experience will be considered.  Some experience in agile development is preferred.  Candidates must have a desire to work in Java and other common web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, RDBMS.  Candidates with these skills will be given extra consideration, but all candidates with superior software engineering skills will be favorably viewed.

What You Will Do:

As a Software Engineer, you will perform requirements analyses, design, prototyping and development involving any or all layers of the product architecture in accordance with company engineering practices.  Depending on the size of the effort, you will collaborate directly with other members of the engineering team, or work independently with limited supervision.  All members of the engineering team occasionally assist in pre-sales efforts.  Additionally, you may be asked to conduct research into a specific software or customer domain issues as part of a product or market initiative within engineering.
